Nearly 600 Rally in Springfield in Support of Illinois Nuclear Facilities
On May 6, nearly 600 supporters of Illinois’ nuclear facilities, from labor leaders to students to civic groups, arrived in Springfield to urge state legislators and Governor Rauner to support the Illinois Low Carbon Portfolio Standard (HB 3293 / SB 1585).
The Illinois Low Carbon Portfolio Standard (HB 3293 / SB 1585) is the only legislative solution that properly values our state’s nuclear energy facilities for the economic and environmental benefits they provide. Learn more about the legislation here.
Partnering with organizations from around the state, Nuclear Powers Illinois called on legislators to support the Illinois Low Carbon Portfolio Standard to save up to 8,000 jobs, to avoid losing up to $1.8 billion in economic activity, and to prevent up to $500 million in higher energy costs.
