A bipartisan group of Illinois State Representatives introduced the Clean Energy Progress Act (HB 2861) to prevent the federal government from rolling back the state’s progress on its clean energy goals.
If passed, HB 2861 would empower the Illinois Power Agency – which already oversees clean energy purchases for the state’s largest utilities – to further take control of purchasing zero-carbon energy for the state to help achieve 100 percent clean energy in northern Illinois. It would also result in customer savings in the first year and protect consumers, (including some of the most vulnerable, low-income and senior citizens) from being preyed upon by the bad actors in the retail energy business.
Please urge your State Representative to co-sponsor House Bill 2861.
